Welcome

Welcome to “Lemon Families in Victorian London – Trees with roots in the West Country". I’m Tim Lemon and two of my interests are family history and London in the 19th century. Perhaps this is just one interest because both are so closely connected.

This site is here to tell some stories harvested from the Lemon family tree – well, from a few branches at least - those that spread across the UK’s West Country in the 17th century and then into London during the 18th and 19th centuries. The stories predominantly occur during the years of Queen Victoria’s reign and within the metropolis of London as it expanded rapidly to almost bursting point into the largest city in world history. There are some amazing and quite magical stories to share, which is why there is a magic lantern projector at the top of this page.

This website and blog is very much still under construction as I try to get to grips with the required editing and design skills - (years of doing everything with only MS Word and PowerPoint means anything else is something of a challenge). For example, there is no way to make comments or contact me just yet. That will come later, but in the meantime, if something piques your interest or provokes your ire you are welcome to send me an email to:
